At its core, a Story Strategy Session answers one important question: How do I solve this specific story problem?
This is a focused, collaborative working session designed for authors who already know where they're stuck—but want help exploring possible solutions.
Whether you're wrestling with plot structure, character motivation, emotional arcs, romance progression, pacing, or a difficult scene, we'll work through the challenge together in real time.
Unlike a Developmental Edit, this isn't a comprehensive evaluation of your manuscript. Instead, we'll focus on the specific story questions you bring to the session and develop practical next steps together.

Many authors book a Story Strategy Session after receiving feedback from a beta reader, critique partner, manuscript assessment, or developmental edit and want help deciding how to approach their revisions.
If you're looking for feedback on your manuscript rather than collaborative problem-solving, a Beta Read, Manuscript Assessment, or Developmental Edit may be a better fit.
“Alexa did an assessment of my novel that really helped me move forward. Her report was not only readable and excellently structured, but it also addressed the right issues and problems. In addition, she assisted me with several video chats to find solutions to more challenging and complex problems. Both of these video chats were very fruitful and helpful.”

We will meet via Zoom for a 1hr video conference. It can be recorded upon request (please let us know before the meeting begins). Zoom is a free software that you can install on your computer, tablet, or cellphone.
To make the best use of our time, please come prepared with a list of questions or problems to address. It's best if you can send your list of questions 24-48hrs in advance to Alexa, in case she needs to research a particular topic.
Payment for the call will be taken up front, prior to the call. If no payment is received, the call will be canceled and you will be responsible to reschedule it.
