Story Strategy Session

Feeling stuck in your manuscript? A Story Strategy Session helps you work through specific story problems and leave with a clear plan for your next revision.

Is this service right for you?

At its core, a Story Strategy Session answers one important question: How do I solve this specific story problem?

This is a focused, collaborative working session designed for authors who already know where they're stuck—but want help exploring possible solutions.

Whether you're wrestling with plot structure, character motivation, emotional arcs, romance progression, pacing, or a difficult scene, we'll work through the challenge together in real time.

Unlike a Developmental Edit, this isn't a comprehensive evaluation of your manuscript. Instead, we'll focus on the specific story questions you bring to the session and develop practical next steps together.

Our expertise, cost, and turnaround time

Most fiction and non-fiction genres

  • Session recording to revisit whenever needed

This service does NOT include:

  • comprehensive manuscript evaluation

Best suited for authors who:

  • have received feedback but aren't sure how to approach revisions
  • feel stuck on one or two specific story problems
  • want to brainstorm possible solutions with a professional editor
  • don't need a full manuscript evaluation

Many authors book a Story Strategy Session after receiving feedback from a beta reader, critique partner, manuscript assessment, or developmental edit and want help deciding how to approach their revisions.

If you're looking for feedback on your manuscript rather than collaborative problem-solving, a Beta Read, Manuscript Assessment, or Developmental Edit may be a better fit.

Turnaround:

What authors say about us

“A partner in the creative process”

“Alexa never fails to deliver insightful and challenging comments through her beta reading. I’ve used her for every book in my Singularverse series, and with each successive volume, her expertise has grown. She’s come into her own as a premier beta reader and partner. Because that’s what LIAS is for authors—a partner in the creative process. She won’t always tell you what you want to hear, but she’ll always tell it like it is. And that is something every author needs!!”

Eldon Farrell

Author of the Singularverse sci-fi/fantasy series, the Descent thriller series, & more
